The 2017 list of Most Instagrammed Locations in New Zealand has been released – and some of the results may surprise you. To compile the list, the number of photographs that are geo-tagged to exact locations were analysed.
Sitting pretty in first place is the stunning and remote Milford Sound, followed by Matamata’s Hobbiton film set. Locals may not have expected to see Takapuna Beach on the list, given that New Zealand boasts a wealth of stunning, natural beaches – however, the foot traffic on Auckland’s popular North Shore is likely the cause of this.
Andrew Fraser, director of marketing at Tourism New Zealand says :”The photography skills of visitors and New Zealanders on Instagram are quite amazing – although they do have some pretty good backdrops to work with!”
