Margot Robbie Launches Gin Company at Onslow in Auckland
Auckland's culinary scene was sprinkled with Hollywood star dust on Sunday.

Barbie star Margot Robbie graced Josh Emett’s renowned restaurant, Onslow to launch her gin company in New Zealand.

Robbie had made her way to Auckland to mark the launch of her latest venture, the Papa Salt gin brand. Emett was clearly thrilled to host the international star at Onslow.

The restaurant’s Instagram account shared the exciting encounter, featuring a snapshot of the two personalities. The caption, “What a day,” accompanied by a starry-eyed emoji, hinted at the excitement and perhaps a touch of awe in the presence of Hollywood royalty.

Robbie’s Papa Salt gin cocktails are now available on the drinks list at Onslow.

While in Auckland, Robbie visited the rooftop at Seafarers before celebrating fellow Papa Salt founder Regan Mass’s birthday at Bivacco.

What is Papa Salt Gin?

Robbie co-founded the brand with Charlie Maas, Regan Riskas Maas, husband Tom Ackerley and Josey McNamara (all above).

After an extensive journey of five years and 59 iterations, Papa Salt reached its ultimate form, emerging as an award-winning tribute to the relaxed and easygoing Australian way of life.

The subtle taste of Aussie botanicals shine through, brightened with a zesty wax flower, hibiscus and citrus peel. There is even a hint of mild pink peppercorn and an unmistakable minerality from a hint of oyster shell.

The final iteration captures the essence of the laid-back Aussie lifestyle, offering a harmonious blend of flavours that encapsulates the spirit of leisure and enjoyment. The idea was dreamed up over days in the sun spent drinking gin cocktails over lockdown in LA.

The friends turned business partners, who now live within a 10-minute-by-foot radius of each other, first met through the film industry in London.
