Ice ice baby: The benefits of using ice in your beauty routine

If you are looking for a simple and cost-effective way to improve your beauty routine, try using ice.

Ice can be useful for a variety of different things, including clearing your sinuses.

Ice is extremely versatile; it can be used in drinks, to relieve aches and pains, and to help reduce puffiness in your face.

Lucy Redman, an expert from The Ice Co., has shared several ways that you can use ice in your beauty and skincare routines.

Reduce eye bags

Ice is well known for reducing swelling and puffiness so why not make a habit of rolling ice under your eyes on a daily basis?

“Rolling an ice cube under your eyes will help to reduce dark circles and puffiness – the perfect base before applying make-up,” Lucy says.

Seal nail polish

A lesser-known hack when it comes to ice is using it to seal nail polish.

“Painted your nails and need them to dry quickly? Ice water dries and seals nail polish in no time,” Lucy states, adding, “Fill a bowl of cold water and add ice, then dip your fingers in for thirty seconds and hold. Your polish should be dry and sealed!”

Ice facial

If you are looking to make your skin feel more awake and brighter, Lucy recommends trying an ice facial.

“To help soothe skin and reduce tiredness by encouraging blood flow to the face for a brighter complexion, fill a bowl with cold water and ice cubes, dip your face in and hold for several seconds after cleansing,” she explains. “Repeat a few times, and don’t forget to moisturise afterwards!”

According to the expert, the ice facial is “tried and tested by many celebrities” such as Bella Hadid and Selling Sunset’s Amanza Smith.

A quick fix

If you are short on time, simply rolling an ice cube over your face can also be effective.

“If you don’t have time for a full icy facial, take a cube of ice and roll it across your face after cleansing,” Lucy suggests. “This helps to reduce any swelling, minimise pores, and redness for a smoother, more even skin tone.”

Clear sinuses

Outside of the beauty department, ice can also help clear your sinuses when you are unwell.

Lucy explains, “If you’re feeling under the weather, holding an ice cube to the roof of your mouth for thirty seconds can help clear your sinuses.”
