Celebrations will be low-key this year, with the traditional gun salutes cancelled due to the coronavirus outbreak.
It’s believed to be the first time in the Queen’s 68-year reign that the salutes will not be taking place.
Buckingham Palace said the Queen had decided it wouldn’t be appropriate to have the salutes at this time.
“Her Majesty was keen that no special measures were put in place to allow gun salutes as she did not feel it appropriate in the current circumstances,” a Buckingham Palace source said.
The Palace said the monarch’s birthday would not be marked in any special way, with phone or video calls taking place with family to be kept private.
The Trooping the Colour parade to mark the birthday, which was due to be held in June, has also been cancelled.
