In a bold move towards sustainability, Gucci has enlisted the iconic Billie Eilish to introduce their new, animal-free Handbag collection.
The centrepiece of this eco-conscious line is the Horsebit 1955 bag, crafted from Demetra, an innovative cruelty-free material.
Demetra uses 75 percent vegetable raw materials, including bio-based polyurethane composed of non-GMO wheat and corn, recycled ECONYL nylon made from regenerated ghost nets, carpets, and pre-consumer waste.
Billie Eilish, celebrated for her advocacy and vocal stance on climate action, was a natural choice for this collaboration. Gucci says Eilish exemplifies “both the House’s and her commitment to a more ethical fashion future.”
Gucci has been actively pursuing a greener path, with its earlier release of Demetra-made sneakers two years ago. The revamped handbags represent the brand’s continued commitment to sustainable design.
The Demetra 1955 Horsebit bag showcases a fresh take on the classic rectangular handbag, challenging the norms of traditional fashion. It comes in two stunning colour options: a sleek ebony black with a recycled silver chain and a more neutral beige style adorned with the signature Gucci logo.
This collection combines fashion-forward design with eco-consciousness, setting a new standard for luxury accessories.
