Four of the best: American Eateries
American-style fare is a food trend that's here to stay. We take a look at the four best places sample the cuisine.

House of Crabs – Sydney

It’s a bibs-on, eat-with-your-hands, share-with-mates vibe at Drink ’n’ Dine’s American-style crab joint. Located upstairs at the Norfolk in Surry Hills, the restaurant menu swims between Coney Island and Louisiana. Lobster Fries are a must.

The Crab Shack – Wellington

At the southern end of Shed 5 on Queens Wharf you’ll find this laid-back, Cape Cod-themed eatery. There are seafood options aplenty, such as shellfish by the scoop and a variety of crabs, from Nelson Paddle Crab to Red King.

SoCal – Sydney

This Southern Californian-themed restaurant and bar is from hospitality duo Hamish Watts and Ben Carroll. In a space evoking a San Diego beach bar, you’ll be knocking back American craft beers, a long list of tequila and Baja  fish tacos with unsurprising ease.

Po’ Boy Quarter – Melbourne

The team behind Creole food truck Gumbo Kitchen opened Po’ Boy Quarter in Fitzroy last year, serving up the same smoky Louisiana-inspired food with a focus on the New Orleans comfort food classic, the po’ boy (submarine sandwich).
