With the opening of Mövenpick Hotel on Customs Street, these experiences are now available in Auckland.
They include a daily ‘Chocolate Hour’ in the hotel lobby, a chocolate experience with live demonstrations; a 24-hour, in-room ice cream Sundae Service; and free ice cream for kids for the duration of their stay.
But Auckland’s Mövenpick Hotel isn’t just suitable for those with a sweet tooth. Boasting brand-new interiors, a location in the heart of town next to Commercial Bay, and harbour views, it’s a fantastic option for visitors to Auckland or locals keen on a special staycation.
Also open is BODA, the hotel’s restaurant and bar. Situated on the top floor, it offers fantastic views of the city and fabulous Asian fusion fare.
The bright, fresh flavours provide a welcome contrast if you’ve indulged in a tad too much chocolate during your stay. Having said that, don’t skip the seafood pie, one of the restaurant’s signature dishes. Yes, it’s on the heavier side, but it’s beautifully rich and a must for seafood lovers.
And do leave room for dessert – this is the Mövenpick Hotel, after all! The chocolate tart is silky and oh so satisfying.
When it comes to the rooms at the hotel, mine was spacious, modern and inviting. It had a wonderful view over the water, showcasing the best parts of the city.
Call me basic, but the highlight of the room had to be the TV installed in the bath. When I was lying in there, sipping on champagne, sampling macarons and catching up on the news, I was in heaven!
I was also very impressed with the service at our stay. The highly attentive and friendly staff really elevated the experience.
In fact, I enjoyed my stay so much that I’ve booked in at Melbourne’s Mövenpick Hotel for my next overseas trip. Chocolate hour, here I come.
