Although crowds are unable to gather at this time, lockdown doesn’t mean you can’t pay tribute to the ANZACs this Saturday.

Australians and New Zealanders are being encouraged to participate in dawn services from their driveways, front doors, back yards, balconies or verandas at 6am.

Suggestions for how to commemorate our soldiers include playing ‘The Last Post’, listening to a live broadcast of a dawn service, holding a candle, laying a wreath or having a moment of silence.

In Australia, RSLs across states are urging people to ‘Light up the Dawn’ with the 6am driveway services. RSL Queensland has shared an audio file of a short commemorative service that you can download or stream and play at dawn.

RSL SA/NT has provided links to bugle calls and music for you to conduct your own service. You can play ‘The Last Post’, ‘The Rouse’, and the Australian and New Zealand national anthems from their website.

In New Zealand, a virtual dawn service will be broadcast at 6am on Radio New Zealand National Radio, which Kiwis are encouraged to listen to during their ‘Stand at Dawn’ driveway services.

RSA NZ has also shared a template to create a poppy at home. See how to make it below:
