The 68-year-old actress and ‘Wolverine’ star Hugh, 55, stunned fans and Hollywood when they announced in September they were calling time on their nearly three-decades-long romance as their relationship was thought to be one of the most stable in showbusiness.
Deborra has now told The Daily Telegraph newspaper at the premiere of her new movie ‘Force of Nature: The Dry 2’, in which she stars alongside Eric Bana, 55, about her life as a singleton: “It is kind of exciting. You know what, change, transition, evolution is a little frightening and we are all a bit scared of it but I think it is probably our greatest gift.”
Deborra ditched her wedding ring for the premiere, and said working on her new film has kept her busy amid her dramatic personal upheaval.
She added about the project: “There were so many appealing factors for me, a great script by Jane Harper and directed by Robert Connolly.
“I love Eric and coming home to Australia to shoot in the wilds.”
Deborra and Hugh said in a statement to People announcing their split: “We have been blessed to share almost three decades together as husband and wife in a wonderful, loving marriage.
“Our journey now is shifting and we have decided to separate to pursue our individual growth. Our family has been and always will be our highest priority.
“We undertake this next chapter with gratitude, love, and kindness.”
The former couple, who adopted two children – Oscar, 23, and 18-year-old Ava – are still close despite their break-up and celebrated Hugh’s 55th birthday together.
The pair first met in 1995 on the set of Australian TV show ‘Correlli’ and tied the knot the following year near Melbourne, Australia.
