Aigo Noodle Bar in Ponsonby is the newest venture from successful restaurateur David Lee (Gochu, The Candy Shop and Pōni).
Continuing Lee’s desire to bring Korean cuisine into the mainstream, Aigo serves Korean favourites with creative twists. “Aigo is the Korean term for ‘oh my’ which is exactly what you’ll be saying after experiencing the food here.”
Boasting a menu that is fresh, modern and indulgent, here you’ll find an “amalgamation of Lee’s personal favourite cuisines, Korean and Italian which is a combination that’s entirely unique to our city.”
Korean classics are playfully reinvented such as tteokbokki rice cakes smothered in cheesy cacio e pepe sauce, while traditional cuisine is lovingly represented in dishes like bibim naengmyeon, a cold noodle dish with charred pork skewer.
While the noodles may draw you in, there’s lots more to enjoy at Aigo, with other standouts being crispy rice with tuna tartare, crispy eggplant with Sichuan chilli syrup and and burnt kumara mousse for dessert.
Aigo is open for lunch and dinner from Tues-Sat (12pm-10pm). Visit aigo.co.nz.
