Buckingham Palace is transforming its Queen’s Gallery into an escape room with a twist as it curates an exhibition titled “Leonardo Da Vinci: A Life in Drawing”.
The show is currently on view in the Queen’s Gallery at Buckingham Palace, and for the most part, it looks like your standard art exhibition. But for a brief window of time on Fridays and Saturdays, it turns into something else entirely, called “Leonardo Artmergency!”
It’s an art history-themed escape room – for people who wanted to try an escape room, but thought there wasn’t enough Renaissance art-centric gameplay. Teams of four to eight players can take on the challenge as a team, apparently in search of a missing curator. Read the palace’s description in full below.
You’ll have one hour to find the hidden clues, discover secrets and observe the artworks in the process.
According to the escape room description, “your team will need careful observation, creative thinking and detective work to beat the clock, but no prior art history knowledge is required”.
There’s a minimum age of 14 to enter the escape room. An adult must be present for groups that contain players under 16 years of age “due to the complexity of the puzzles and the immersive setting,” the Royal Collection Trust’s website states.
