Boris Johnson and fiancee Carrie Symonds have revealed the name of their baby boy: Wilfred Lawrie Nicholas Johnson.

Wilfred’s middle name, Nicholas, is a tribute to two NHS doctors who treated him while in hospital due to COVID-19.

“Wilfred after Boris’ grandfather, Lawrie after my grandfather, Nicholas after Dr Nick Price and Dr Nick Hart – the two doctors that saved Boris’ life last month,” Carrie Symonds shared privately on Instagram.

“Thank you so, so much to the incredible NHS maternity team at UCLH that looked after us so well. I couldn’t be happier. My heart is full,” she added.

Johnson, who spent three days in intensive care in early April, returned to work on Monday.

“It’s hard for words to express my debt,” said Johnson when he left the hospital in April. “It is thanks to that courage, that devotion, that duty and that love that our NHS has been unbeatable.”
