A two-day, 19km-long track in the Blue Mountains is a drawcard for serious hikers and casual walkers alike.

The new Grand Cliff Top Walk in the Blue Mountains forest region west of Sydney, now provides a seamless journey all the way from Wentworth Falls to Katoomba, but shorter distances can also be enjoyed.

Talking walkers along the escarpment in World Heritage-listed Blue Mountains National Park, the walk features a variety of terrain. It passes features like the famous Three Sisters rock formation and Wentworth Falls, the bush and rainforest teeming with native plants and animals, including black cockatoos and lyrebirds.

Suitable for most ages and fitness levels, the track is designed to take two days, with an overnight stop in one of a variety of accommodation options in the mountain villages of Leura, Wentworth Falls or Katoomba. It offers the opportunity to experience a multi-day adventure without the need for lugging camping equipment or heavy backpacks.

Developed by the New South Wales Government and NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS), the full walk has been 4 years in the making and links previously opened sections of the track.

‘We’re fortunate to have this magnificent new walk in our Blue Mountains backyard,” says Blue Mountains MP Trish Doyle.

“We urge visitors and walkers who experience the Grand Cliff Top Walk, on a guided tour or self-guided walk, to explore our villages along the way with their unique art deco buildings, colourful boutique cafès, restaurants and shops,” she says.

Blue Mountains National Park is the most popular national park in New South Wales with more than 6.4 million visits annually.
