With a focus on talent and diversity, this year’s programme promises to tantalise taste buds and satisfy all gastronomic cravings.
“Restaurant Month’s well-established as a city centre ‘must do’ on people’s calendars,” says Heart of the City CEO Viv Beck.
“This year, there’s a fabulous mix of events, deals, local and international celebrity chefs that when combined, highlight how our dining scene continues to thrive.”
One of the highlights is the revival of The Chef Collab Series, bringing together renowned international chefs and local culinary stars for a series of exclusive dining events.
Returning Kiwi chefs Analiese Gregory and Justin North will team up with acclaimed Auckland chefs to create unforgettable gastronomic experiences.
Gregory’s foraging ethos will merge with Ben Bayly’s love of indigenous ingredients and Māori cooking techniques at Ahi, while North is set to present a seafood showcase alongside Des Harris at FISH Restaurant.
Meanwhile memories will be the inspiration for Nelly Robinson from Sydney’s famed ‘Nel’ who will team up with Sid Sahrawat of the recently reopened Cassia Restaurant to create six courses of modern Indian dining.
The Flavours of the City series will celebrate the unique eateries found in Auckland’s city centre through a range of 10 events. From a Dumpling and Noodle Crawl on Lorne Street to a four-course dinner at Homeland by Peter Gordon, the series aims to showcase the city’s diverse culinary landscape and pay homage to local producers.
For those seeking an intimate dining experience, the Chef’s Table Series offers the opportunity to connect with top chefs from renowned restaurants. From celebrating 20 years of MoVida’s with Frank Camorra to indulging in the quirky dishes of Culprit alongside Kyle Street and his chef friends, these exclusive evenings of food and conversation are sure to leave a lasting impression.
Throughout August, diners can explore more than 100 specially created menus at different price points ($30, $45, and $55+ per person) across the city centre. Additionally, Social Hour returns, allowing patrons to enjoy delicious cocktails paired with delectable bites at more than 15 of the city’s top bars and restaurants.
