After a brief visit to the UK to visit the Queen at Windsor Castle, the Sussexes were all smiles as they attended the launch of the Invictus Games.
The Prince founded the Invictus Games in 2014 as support for injured military veterans, although it has experienced a two-year hiatus due to the coronavirus pandemic.
As the couple did not attend Prince Philip’s memorial service at Westminister Abbey last month due to security concerns, it was surprising to many that the couple were attending the Games. Meghan has not been seen in public outside the of United States since leaving the United Kingdom over two years ago. According to sources, they were granted ‘VVIP’ status in the Netherlands by the local authorities, affording them top-level local protection.
Inside the reception the couple were welcomed by cheering guests, before Harry gave a short speech welcoming the competitors as Meghan looked on.
While the Prince will stay in the Netherlands for the entirety of the Games, Meghan will return to California on Monday.
