The Flight Attendant was a breakout hit when it premiered in 2020, earning three Emmy nominations. It’s no wonder the thriller-comedy, starring Kaley Cuoco was quickly renewed for another season.
Now, we have the first full look at the new series in The Flight Attendant season two trailer. Once again following Cuoco’s Cassie Bowden, the trailer shows Cassie in a new phase in her life, having quit drinking and now in a relationship with a new man. However, it appears Cassie hasn’t been able to quit the thrill-seeking life, as she reveals she is secretly working as a CIA asset.
As The Flight Attendant season two description goes: “When an overseas assignment leads her to inadvertently witness a murder, she becomes entangled in another international intrigue.”
While season one was based on the best-selling novel by Chris Bohjalian, the second season of The Flight Attendant features an original story by showrunners Steve Yockey and Natali Chaidez.
Introducing the trailer, Cuoco tells fans: “You thought season one was wild, season two is going to be one trip you are never going to forget.”
The actress, who is best known for her role as Penny in The Big Bang Theory, says her decision to both star in and executive produce The Flight Attendant was a big risk.
“Coming off such a successful show, I knew people were going to judge this and question my decision. By the way, it wouldn’t have mattered what choice I had made, it was going to be – not looked down upon, but questioned,” she told Radio Times.
“But I went through a lot of ups and [downs] – there were days where I’m like, ‘Oh man, like, people are gonna love this’, and then there were days where I would literally cry myself to sleep, wishing I had never ever found the book. ‘What am I thinking? Oh, my God!'”
“It just was so crazy. But it was a risk – I was taking a risk because I don’t believe in my heart that someone would have hired me to play this role.
“I could have auditioned and I might have even given the audition of my life but I don’t think someone would have given me this role, so I wanted to prove that I can actually do more and that I love it.
Zosia Mamet, Rosie Perez and Griffin Matthews return to the cast, along with a handful of new guest stars including Margaret Cho, Mae Martin and Sharon Stone.
The Flight Attendant season two premieres on 21 April and is available on Neon, BINGE and Foxtel.
