Princess Charlene says being separated from her family while she has recovered from a surgery in her native South Africa has been a “trying time”.
The Princess, who is married to Prince Albert of Monaco, underwent a reparative surgery in late June to address complications from a prior procedure.
Recuperating from the surgery in South Africa meant she was separated from her husband on their 10th wedding anniversary and away from her 6-year-old twins Princess Gabriella and Prince Jacques.
“It’s been a trying time for me. I miss my husband and children dearly,” she told South African News Channel24.
“Albert is my rock and strength and without his love and support I would not have been able to get through this painful time.”
Charlene and Albert issued a statement on their wedding anniversary to thank their supporters.
“HSH Prince Albert and HSH Princess Charlene would like to thank everyone for their continued love and support,” it read.
“The generosity they have experienced during the ten years of their marriage is heart-warming.”
