There’s no doubt the coronavirus crisis has turned lots of people to home cooking. For some, this has meant the new challenge of finding new recipes and trying new flavours.
But for others, this challenge has been far great – with many families struggling to put a decent meal on their dinner tables.
Adding to that are the struggles of many in the hospitality industry – with restaurants, bars and cafes suffering majors losses during shutdown.
One new project is seeking to tackle these dilemmas.
The Mighty Waikato Cookbook is a collection of recipes from the Waikato’s much-loved food establishments, with money raised from the sale of the e-book going to the Greatest Needs Appeal, providing food to the region’s most vulnerable.
The cookbook features over 50 recipes from 40 of the region’s favourite eateries, including The River Kitchen, Mr Pickles and Duck Island.
“We invite you to discover recipes and stories from some of your favourite producers in the region and hope you enjoy learning more about the wonderful businesses dotted across the region who’ve inspired and co-created the Mighty Waikato Cookbook,” say its creators.
The cookbook can be purchased for a $5 or more donation with 100% of the proceeds going towards Momentum Waikato and Wise Group’s community kitchen.
