Wanderlust appears to be an overarching source of inspiration for menswear designers at the moment, with both Gucci and Prada exploring the idea of roaming on the SS17 runway. While Muiccia Prada opted for a more literal interpretation – oversized daypacks, wide-brimmed camping hats, water bottles, mini flashlights and all – Gucci creative director and designer du jour, Alessandro Michele, interpreted travel through a more metaphorical lens. Sumptuous layers, an eclectic colour palette, florid motifs and shapes from bygone days tell a story of travel being much more than simply a departure and arrival.
