A new film detailing the life of war correspondent Lee Miller will be released in October.
The film stars Kate Winslet as the photographer who is behind some of the 20th century’s most indelible images.
The Oscar winner, who is also a producer on ‘Lee’, will tour Australia to promote the film in October. Winslet will be accompanied by producing partner Kate Solomon and Lee Miller’s son Antony Penrose.
Miller was born in Poughkeepsie, New York in 1907 and started her career as a fashion model in the 1920s.
She later transitioned to photography, moving to Paris and becoming part of the surrealist movement. Her striking and innovative photographs gained her considerable recognition.
With the outbreak of World War II, Miller reinvented herself once more, this time as a war correspondent for Vogue.
She was one of the few female photojournalists on the front lines, capturing some of the most harrowing and iconic images of the war.
Her work covered the London Blitz, the liberation of Paris, and the horrors of the concentration camps at Buchenwald and Dachau.
‘Lee’ is adapted from the 1985 biography The Lives of Lee Miller, written by Miller’s son Antony Penrose.
The film also stars Andy Samberg, Alexander Skarsgård, Marion Cotillard and Josh O’Connor.
