Tom Cruise Unveils Unbelievable Transformation In ‘Digger’ Trailer

We're used to actor Tom Cruise looking his familiar action-star self, but a role playing an eccentric oil tycoon in new film 'Digger' demanded a remarkable transformation.

The just-released trailer for Alejandro González Iñárritu’s highly anticipated comedy-drama Digger sees Cruise step into the role of Digger Rockwell.

It’s hard to believe the 64-year-old actor is the man in the trailer, as Cruise is seen with thinning grey hair, wrinkles and a physique a little less toned than we’re used to. The makeup and prosthetics are remarkably convincing and he speaks with a southern twang.

It’s all in aid of delivering Digger, a character referred to in promotional material as the ‘most powerful man in the world,’ who is on a mission to prove he is humanity’s saviour – before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything.

Speaking of the film before the trailer’s release, Cruise confirmed to Hollywood Reporter that Digger is unlike anything that he’s made before.

“I have never had something that could challenge me in this way. When you see this film, it’s totally original,” said Cruise.

Digger is released in cinemas on October 1.
