A wizarding war brews in “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore”, with the film’s new trailer showing magizoologist Newt Scamander and Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore teaming up to stop the villainous wizard Gellert Grindelwald from wreaking major havoc.
Oscar winner Eddie Redmayne reprises his role for the third film in the “Harry Potter” spin-off, which is set some 60 years before J.K. Rowling’s books but features some of the same key characters when they were younger, including Dumbledore, played by Jude Law.
Aware of Grindelwald’s ambitions to take control of the wizarding world, Dumbledore seeks help from Scamander to lead a mission backed by wizards, witches and Muggle baker Jacob Kowalski (Dan Fogler). It sees them face off against a range of beasts as well as Grindelwald’s loyal followers.
The new trailer takes viewers back the Hogwarts school for young wizards, offers more glimpses of Danish actor Mads Mikkelsen as Grindelwald.
Mikkelsen replaced Hollywood star Johnny Depp, who was forced to exit the role of Grindelwald in late 2020 after losing a libel case in Britain against a tabloid newspaper that branded him a “wife beater”.
The movie also stars past “Fantastic Beasts” cast members Ezra Miller, Katherine Waterston and Alison Sudol.
“Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore” is scheduled for release only in cinemas April 7 2022.
