The first trailer for Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy has been released and it reveals a major update – the death of a main character.
23 years after the first movie based on Helen Fielding’s book was released, the new installment will be hotly anticipated.
The new release appears to follow the story of Fielding’s ‘Mad About The Boy’, released in 2013, which sees Bridget as a widow following the death of husband Mark (played by Colin Firth).
Bridget, now a single mother to 9-year-old Billy and 4-year-old Mabel, is facing the prospect of being back on the singles market again.
In the trailer, Hugh Grant returns as her former lover Daniel Cleaver and we’re introduced to a new, younger love interest, played by ‘The White Lotus’ and ‘One Day’ star, Leo Woodall.
“Pressured by her Urban Family —Shazzer, Jude and Tom, her work colleague Miranda, her mother, and her gynecologist Dr. Rawlings (Oscar winner Emma Thompson) — to forge a new path toward life and love, Bridget goes back to work and even tries out the dating apps, where she’s soon pursued by a dreamy and enthusiastic younger man (Woodall).
Now juggling work, home and romance, Bridget grapples with the judgment of the perfect mums at school, worries about Billy as he struggles with the absence of his father, and engages in a series of awkward interactions with her son’s rational-to-a-fault science teacher (Oscar nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor).”
Another revelation is the news the movie will be released on Valentine’s Day – February 14 – 2025 in the UK and the US but those of us Down Under will be able to see it a day earlier, on February 13.
