A great granola can brighten up any morning, and the perk of a homemade version is you get in include your favourite flavours. This recipe sees you combine your selection of nuts, seeds, oats and chia seeds with a deliciously sweet concoction of apple juice, honey and butter and bake until dreamily golden.

Homemade Granola with Apple Juice, Honey and Butter Recipe

Serves 8

Ingredients:

100ml apple juice

1 tbsp honey

1 tbsp butter

250g assorted nuts (walnuts, hazelnuts, sunflower seeds, almonds, sesame seeds)

230g oats

3 tbsp chia seeds

Yoghurt and dried berries, if desired

Method:

Preheat the oven to 160°C (140°C fan forced).

Put the apple juice, honey and butter in a saucepan over medium heat; stir until butter is melted.

Cut the nuts roughly and add with the oats, chia seeds and 1 tsp salt into the butter mixture; stir until mixed. Cover a baking tray with baking paper and spread the mixture all over the tray. Bake in oven for 50 minutes until golden.

Once cooled, place it in the jar. Serve with yoghurt and berries.
