Cheese Scone Recipe
MiNDFOOD has recreated the traditional cheese scone using our own version of Edmond's scone recipe. Try it out and tell us what you think.

Scones originated in Scotland hundreds of years ago. Scones are great made either sweet or savoury. These savoury Cheese Scone are crunchy on the outside, incredibly soft and fluffy on the inside.  Enjoy cheese scones fresh from the oven, scones are perfect slathered in butter and your favourite chutney with a bowl of soup for lunch or coffee for morning tea.

Cheese Scone Recipe

Makes 8 large cheese scones

Ingredients:

3 cups plain flour

5-6 teaspoons baking powder

1 pinch of salt

75g butter

1 cup of grated cheese

half an onion, finely grated

1 cup milk, plus extra to brush

Method:

To make cheese scones, shift flour, baking powder and salt into a bowl. Cut butter into flour until to resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add ¾ of grated cheese and onion to mixture, and mix to combine. Add milk and cream and mix quickly using a knife to form a soft dough. Knead a few times.

Lay out baking paper and press cheese scone dough onto this in a round formation. Cut dough into 8 triangles, like a pizza. Brush dough with milk and sprinkle with Parmesan and remaining grated cheese. Bake at 220C for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
