Boccia is a sport for the severely physically disabled, it’s a bit like bowls and provides the athletes with the opportunity to involve themselves in a mentally and physically demanding sport and realise their dreams of competing at not only a regional/national level but an international level too.
New Zealand’s top eight athletes are starting their campaign to make it to the 2016 Summer Paralympics; their first hurdle is getting to the Asia and Oceania Championships in Sydney this year.
Luke Morriss is the director of Boccia NZ and his twin brother Jeremy Morriss plays the sport, he joins the program to explain more about this unique sport:
