Picnic Celebrates Dog Point Wines Matched to Picnic Fare

Now in its eighth year, the Dog Point/Logan Brown Classic Kiwi Picnic is a joint effort between Marlborough’s Dog Point Vineyard and Wellington’s Logan Brown Restaurant and Bar.

Each year around 150 guests spend a relaxing day enjoying food and wine in an olive grove surrounded by vines and established trees, on the Dog Point property.

Simply put the picnic concept is to recreate the traditional kiwi picnic with dishes that are true to the picnic theme and carefully matched to Dog Point’s four wines; two styles of Sauvignon Blanc one of which is an alternative style of barrel fermented sauvignon, a Chardonnay and a Pinot Noir which are also both barrel fermented. Dog Point’s in-house bubbles – Two Shady Dogs – are also poured on the day. The emphasis is firmly on seasonal and local produce that will work well with Dog Point’s wines so picnic fare includes oysters, whitebait, paua, salmon and venison. Seasonal salads, homemade ice cream dessert, coffee and truffles ensure no one is left wanting. While loungers placed in the shade of the many surrounding trees offer a tempting place to rest and recover.

Everything about the picnic is convivial with the Dog Point and Logan Brown teams having as much fun as the guests; this is a celebration of everything that makes the kiwi style of picnic unique and special. In keeping with the picnic theme, food and wine is served casually and with more than a hint of fun!

The 2016 picnic will be held on Saturday 27th February. Tickets go on sale on November 30 and are strictly limited. Tickets are NZD$195pp. To get a ticket email [email protected] , for more information visit www.dogpoint.co.nz/events or www.facebook.com/dogpointpicnic
