Watch Beyonce’s moving performance at Kobe Bryant memorial

Beyonce opened the public memorial service for Kobe Bryant and daughter Gigi with a powerful performance.

Singing two of her most popular songs, “XO” and “Halo”, the singer tributed her performance to the late basketball player.

“I’m here because I love Kobe, and this is one of his favourite songs,” she said.

Joined by a string quartet and a choir of singers, Beyonce paused her performance, saying “I want to start that over. But I want us to do it all together, and I want you to sing it so loud that he hears your love.”

She followed up her performance with a powerful rendition of “Halo”, ending the song with the lines “he will be your, she will be your … halo.”

The ceremony also featured Alicia Keys performing Beethoven’s “Moonlight Sonata” and speeches by Jimmy Kimmel and Michael Jordan.

An emotional Vanessa Bryant delivered a moving speech, paying tribute to her late husband and daughter. “God knew, they couldn’t be on this earth without each other,” she said tearfully. “He had to bring them home to him together.”
