No Time to Die is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, best known for Beast of No Nation, and co-written by Fleabag and Killing Eve creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who has been credited with helping James Bond get with the times. Waller-Bridge recently spoke about the experiecne of working on the 25th James Bondi film during a BBC Radio 6 interview with UK radio host Lauren Laverne. Asked what it was like to work on such a big franchise, Waller-Bridge said, ‘It was a different thing when I’m coming in just to punch up scenes and everything was already established and the characters were already there. The storyline was already there so it’s just sort of having a play with some of the characters.’ She also spoke about how she found the US’s fast-paced environment ‘intimidating’, and said that it took plenty of ‘graft’ to make her way in the industry.

On top of being the 25th James Bond, it too marks the end of an era for actor Daniel Craig, who will be stepping down from the much loved role after playing the MI5 agent in five films. Having overtaken Roger Moore to become cinema’s longest-serving Bond, the British actor officially took on the mantle of the world’s most famous secret agent on October 14 2005, and now has held it for over fourteen years.

The new Bond, which stars Leá Seydoux, Rami Malek, Lashana Lynch, and Jeffrey Wright, will hit Aussie cinema screens on April 8, 2020 and New Zealand screens on April 25th.
