City of lights

By MiNDFOOD

On 26 June the streets of Dunedin city will be awash with a chain of almost 300 lanterns.

The event is part of the city’s mid-winter carnival.

Dancers, stilt walkers, musicians, and fireworks will create a feast for the senses and giant lanterns, designed and built by Dunedin artists, will form a warming centre piece for the procession.

For the creatively inclined, one can join hundreds of locals who attend free lantern making workshops in the run up to the event.

Or for those simply wanted to warm up on this frosty evening head to the many lane way bars to indulge in a glass of local Central Otago Pinot Noir.
