Indulge your way through Vivid Sydney – top 5 places to eat

This year, Vivid Sydney is serving up more than a few treats for festival goers. As Sydney lights up from 27 May – 18 June, chefs and food retailers will be showcasing the best produce that Sydney has to offer.

Mini doughnuts and liquid Lindt chocolate shots – should we say more?

NSW Minister for Trade, Tourism and Major Events, Stuart Ayres has said “Vivid Sydney is set to once again delight visitors with some of Sydney’s hippest purveyors of food and beverage presenting a smorgasbord of Vivid-inspired treats that showcase our city’s world-class food and wine culture.”

Here are MiNDFOOD’s top five places to eat and drink while getting around the exciting Vivid Sydney Festival this year:

1. N2 Gelato’s Ice Cream Burgers – Martin place

A site to try Sydney’s burgers, Bar Pho, Sandweesh, Blackstar Pastry, Little Marionette and N2 Extreme Gelato have teamed up to give you the best. Throughout the festival, five of Sydney’s best burger houses will feature. This event is Martin Place’s first 8 Bits&Bites burger activation.

2. The City of Sydney Food Trucks – Hickson Road Reserve

Travel to New York with pastrami sandwiches, Italy with organic pizzas and Mexico with soft tacos. Food trucks including Happy as Larry, Urban Pasta and Agape Organic will line Hickson Road Reserve to bring Sydney-siders a taste of everything.

3. Sydney’s newest dining precinct – Chatswood

WildLight – The Bio-Kenetic City will attract many Vivid Sydney visitors but it is worth visiting for the food alone! There will be a number of market stalls and food trucks on Anderson Street and a new dining precinct, The District to check out. Choose from wood-fired pizza, sushi and specialty chocolate desserts.  The District is open daily until 11pm.

4. Aussie Rum Cocktail – Bennelong, The Sydney Opera House

A Sydney festival is the perfect excuse to indulge in Chef Peter Gilmore’s Australian-inspired menu at Bennelong, at the Sydney Opera House. Two highlights include Red claw yabbies with lemon jam and ‘The Bennelong Billy,’ an Aussie-rum based cocktail with quandong liqueur, strawberry gum and mint.

5. The Night Market – Carriageworks

From June 4 -18, these markets will feature over 50 stallholders including Icebergs, Archie Rose Distillery and Young Henry’s. In what is being called Sydney’s first immersive food and wine event, the markets have something to suit every palate. This years food will centre around the theme ‘Cooking with Fire.’
