From summer to autumn

By MiNDFOOD

Here’s how to transform your look from summer to autumn, MiNDFOOD reports.

I love autumn – it’s the perfect time to start over, recharge, renew. As the seasons flow into each other, your beauty routine should, too. You don’t need to put away your bronzer; instead find a way to update your look by adding new autumn lip or eye colours into the mix.

First things first – adjust your skincare routine to the change in weather. Exfoliate your skin once a week to get rid of any summer flakiness and switch to a slightly heavier moisturiser to protect your skin against the cooler and drier weather. (You should still use a moisturiser with built-in sunscreen to protect you from the sun’s damaging rays.)

After you’ve removed all the sand from your shoes and returned to work, put away the sheer tinted moisturiser and opt for the more polished look of foundation and concealer. It is also a good time to invest in a new foundation (given the change in season and the change in skin tone). Concealer – or what I call the secret to the universe – is great for covering up under-eye circles.

The next step is to transition to autumn make-up shades. Simple adjustments can make all the difference. Don’t immediately switch to darker shades – you can still use bronzer lightly dusted on your forehead, cheeks, nose and chin if you find that you’ve lost your summer glow. This autumn is all about nudes. Eyes are dusted in soft matt neutrals with creamy cheeks and natural lips. Nudes are universally flattering and incredibly sexy because they enhance a woman’s true beauty and really let it show through. The season’s natural look doesn’t mean no make-up, it means finding shades that are suited to your complexion.

Spending a lot of time outdoors during the summer can wreak havoc on your hair. Autumn is the perfect time to get your locks back into shape and to trim off the dry dead ends. I also have my summer highlights toned down for a warmer look that’s more suitable for autumn.
