Feeling a little bit frazzled by the thought of entertaining on Christmas? Overwhelmed by all the present shopping, holiday planning, and end-of-year eating and drinking over the past few weeks? Have a look at how your favourite stars deal with stress and chill out… Good to know they are only human too!

Angelina Jolie, actor and mum of six, keeps it simple. She told Stylist magazine, “I find meditation in sitting on the floor with the kids colouring for an hour, or going on the trampoline. You do something you love, that makes you happy, and that gives you your meditation.”

According to Good Housekeeping magazine, Titanic star Kate Winslet swears by being organised to ward off stress: “I plan everything in advance. We have charts, maps and lists on the fridge, all over the house. I sometimes feel like I’m with the CIA.”

Model Kendall Jenner says, “My way to de-stress is either listening to music or talking to my sister, Kourtney. She’s going to teach me how to meditate and that should help a lot,” she told HuffPost Teen.

Singer Madonna sounds reassuringly just like the rest of us. According to Good Housekeeping magazine, she said, “Actually, I scream a lot …. I guess sometimes I handle things well, sometimes I don’t.”

Actor Gwyneth Paltrow swears by yoga, which she practises daily at 4.30am. She’s said: “Yoga has completely changed me. It’s not just during the hours that I’m practising. It’s about how it filters through into the rest of my life. It makes all the other bullsh*t dissipate.”

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex is another fan of yoga, which she learned from her yoga instructor mum, Doria. She also meditates twice a day.

Michelle Obama, former US first lady, is an exercise fan. Talking to Marie Claire, she said, “If I’m ever feeling tense or stressed or like I’m about to have a meltdown, I’ll put on my iPod and head to the gym or out on a bike ride.”

Everyone’s favourite TV chef, Nigella Lawson swears by sleep and tea. She often heads to bed at 7.30pm, with a cuppa. “I need time to wind down and that takes its own time,” she said.

Aquaman star Amber Heard prefers running. “It’s a way for me to alleviate stress, clear my mind, and refocus.” Heard also told Shape magazine that she leans on friends. “Strong women can help me get through anything,” she said.

And the last word in stress relief goes to Rachel Weisz, star of The Favourite, who says kids are the perfect way to de-stress after an emotionally difficult day. “Having a little one to cuddle every night and play with is the perfect way to de-stress. You just forget the bad things.”
