World’s Best Chef Teams Up with OzHarvest
Can't make it to Italy? This is your chance to dine at Massimo Bottura's restaurant and it's all for a good cause.

Acclaimed chef Massimo Bottura of Italy’s Osteria Francescana is making his way to Australia as part of the World’s 50 Best Restaurant Awards.

Partnering with OzHarvest, the World’s Best Chef will host a once-in-a-lifetime dinner for 130 lucky guests.

The exclusive charity dinner will feature a degustation menu prepared and cooked by a crew of esteemed chefs including, Rob Cockerill (Bennelong), Monty Koludrovic (Icebergs and The Dolphin), Josh Niland (Saint Peter), Matt Stone (Oakridge), James Viles (biota), O Tama Carey (chef/writer), Aaron Ward (sixpenny), Clayton Wells (automata) and Duncan Welgemoed (Africola).

The incredible event will utilise food that would have otherwise gone to waste, being brought back to life by the nine chefs who have given their time and experience to raise money for OzHarvest and Food for Soul.

Guests will also be treated to an intimate talk from Bottura, about his passion project – Food for Soul.

Food for Soul is a not-for-profit organisation that aims to revive the communities in which it operates and change the way the world thinks about food waste. What began as the Refettorio Ambrosiano project in 2013, in which Massimo Bottura, his wife, Lara Gilmore, and Davide Rampello, the director of the Triennale of Design in Milan, worked to transform an abandoned theatre in a suburb of Milan into an avant-garde soup kitchen, is now a global initiative.

Following the success of the Refettorio Ambrosiano project, Food for Soul was founded in 2016 and is now expanding internationally. Last year, alongside food charity, Gastromotiva, Food for Soul set up a soup kitchen in Rio to take advantage of the surplus food from the Olympic Village. Both the Rio refettorio and Refettorio Ambrosiano are still in operation and, in 2017, Food for Soul plans to open further initiatives in London, LA, Berlin and New York.

”Ronni and I are both one hundred per cent committed to ensuring good food stops going to waste and is given to people who need it most. I am delighted to host this dinner with OzHarvest to help tackle this global issue,” said Bottura.

OzHarvest CEO and Founder, Ronni Kahn, said both organisations share the same vision of a world with zero food waste and free of hunger.

“Massimo’s global leadership in the food industry brings much needed focus on the issue of eliminating hunger and food waste. His work inspires chefs, home cooks and consumers to take meaningful action on the social challenges we face today. I am thrilled he is able to share some of his precious time with us,” said Ronni.

Tickets on sale at 9am Tuesday, 14 March. $1000 per person and only available at ozharvest.org/Massimo

Event details: Sunday, 2 April at OzHarvest, 46-62 Maddox Street, Alexandria from 5.30-9.30pm.
