World Arthritis Day 2017
Did you know 350 million people worldwide suffer from arthritis?

Established in 1996 by Arthritis and Rheumatism International, World Arthritis Day aims to raise awareness about the issues affecting those with musculoskeletal and rheumatic diseases. World Arthritis Day provides an opportunity for people suffering from arthritic diseases to connect.

Approximately 3.85 million Australians are affected by arthritis. Australia’s leading pharmacist and media health commentator Gerald Quigley explains that a recent study has revealed how using long-term anti-inflammatory drugs to treat arthritis can have a variety of side effects. More people are turning to natural remedies for arthritic pain relief, such as krill oil. “Preliminary research suggests krill oil may provide temporary relief from symptoms of mild arthritis, help reduce joint inflammation and increase joint mobility,” Quigley says. “Krill oil has been shown to be effective natural remedy for the symptoms of arthritis with little or no known side effects.”

Quigley explains that krill oil reduces pain, swelling and loss of function typically caused by arthritis by “reducing the infiltration of inflammatory cells into the joint and joint-lining tissues.”

With significant numbers of Australians and New Zealanders affected by arthritis, understanding how to manage and prevent the disease is important. View our articles below for more on arthritis:
