What’s on: Art in the Park
Head to Eden Park this July for an incredible art-filled event.

What: Over 100 artists will be exhibiting at the inaugural Art in the Park at Eden Park. Part of Auckland’s winter Elemental festival, Art in the Park features works by painters, photographers, print-makers, sculptors and more. Visitors can meet local artists and purchase artworks, ranging from $250-60,000.

Celebrated local artists include Sofia Minson, Ross Jones, Jimmy James Kouratoras and Tony Ogle, along with exciting up-and-coming talent like Matt Griffin, Josh Davison, and Restless Infectious. It’s a great opportunity to meet artists and discover new works, while enjoying complementary food and drinks in a unique setting.

“As an exhibitor, it is like mounting a mini solo show. You purchase a booth and work towards an exhibition, with quite a lot of autonomy, so it’s a great opportunity to showcase new work and, potentially, share it with a new audience,” says Art in the Park exhibitor Philippa Bentley.

“The artwork I will be exhibiting largely revolves around sea charts/navigation charts – I paint my own charts on to canvas, or paint/print/draw on to beautiful old paper nautical charts. Sometimes these are folded in to paper boats, presented in glass cases, as a paper boat at sea conveys a sense of fragility, vulnerability, the care the oceans need.”

Where: Eden Park, Auckland.

When: 23 – 25 July 2021.
