There is a royal wedding to organise and speculation of a royal baby on the way, but will Beatrice and Eugenie be able to sustain the lifestyles they have grown up with after their father, Prince Andrew, has been stepped down from his role in the Royal family.
Prince Andrew’s official role, until recently, was to support the Queen in her work, for example by attending events on her behalf. Like all full-time working royals, the prince was receiving a living allowance from the Queen. The allowance was funded through the Sovereign Grant and the income from the Queen’s Duchy of Lancaster, a private estate of commercial, agricultural and residential properties that dates back to 1265.
Now that Prince Andrew is not a working royal, it is unlikely Princess Eugenie and husband, Jack Brooksbank, will be unable to pay for their rent at Ivy Cottage, within the grounds of Kensington Palace. The couple has been living at the royal residence since mid-2018 for £182,000 per year, paid for by her father.
Princess Beatrice lives in a taxpayer-funded apartment inside St James’s Palace. And as for her wedding?
It was announced in September that Princess Beatrice would marry Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi in 2020. There is an engagement party set to take place at celebrity favourite Chiltern Firehouse on 18th December, however, no further plans have been released. And it has been over 40 days! Princess Eugenie released her wedding details within 12 days of her engagement.
