A new tell-all book authored by famed Watergate journalist Bob Woodward is the latest to throw the Donald Trump administration into damage-control with explosive anecdotes and concerns about the US President.

The Washington Post on Tuesday published details from Fear: Trump in the White House, Watergate reporter Bob Woodward’s forthcoming examination of Trump’s first 18 months in office.

The publication of Woodward’s book has been anticipated for weeks, and current and former White House officials estimate that nearly all their colleagues cooperated with the famed Watergate journalist.

The book reportedly shows President Donald Trump viciously attacking the top officials in his own administration. But it also shows several of Trump’s underlings aren’t too fond of their boss, either.

Fear: Trump in the White House, which is reportedly largely based on interviews with sources inside the Trump administration, finds Trump insulting his Cabinet members and highest-ranking national security officials, including Attorney General Jeff Sessions, chief of staff John Kelly, former national security advisor H.R. McMaster and many others.

Woodward’s account relies on deep background conversations with sources, meaning their identities are not disclosed.

Woodward, an associate editor at The Washington Post, sought an interview with President Trump as he was writing the book. Trump called Woodward in early August, after the manuscript had been completed, to say he wanted to participate.

Over the course of 11-plus minutes, Trump repeatedly claimed his White House staff hadn’t informed him of Woodward’s interview request — despite also admitting Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) had told him Woodward wanted to talk. He also started the phone call by saying Woodward had “always been fair” to him, but by the end he said the book would be “inaccurate.”

Trump on Tuesday called the new book “just another bad book” and “nasty stuff.”

“He’s had a lot of credibility problems,” Trump told The Daily Caller in an interview.

“I probably would have preferred to speak with him, but maybe not. I think it probably wouldn’t have made a difference in the book. He wanted to write the book a certain way,” the president said.

Trump has been increasingly critical of anonymous sources used by reporters covering his administration.

Scheduled for a September 11 release, Fear: Trump in the White House was ranked the top-selling book on Amazon on Tuesday.
