Vending machine that feeds stray animals
A Turkish company is attempting to save homeless animals and the environment at the same time.

Istanbul, Turkey has an estimated 150,000 stray dogs and cats, wandering the streets, scouring every nook and cranny in search of food and water.

A socially conscious Turkish company called Pugedon has come up with a novel way to tackle the problem, while also helping the environment.

Pugedon has paid for Smart Recycling Boxes, which are essentially vending machines that dispense food and water in exchange for recycled plastic bottles. The bottles are placed on the top of the machine, while the food and water is dispensed out of the bottom, easily accessible to the animals.

There is even a water dish attached to the boxes so users can pour the remaining water from a plastic bottle before recycling it, thereby preventing waste and keeping animals hydrated.

By using the funds from the recycled bottles to purchase food for the cats and dogs, people are encouraged to recycle.

Pugedon, the earth and its animals are smiling in appreciation.

All other countries, take note.
