The Rise Of The Themed Hotel Room
Sometimes a hotel room is just a place to rest your head for the night. There's a bed, a desk, a TV and some extra attention-to-detail depending on where you're staying.

There are other times however, when a hotel room is so much more – like when it has a crazy theme to make your stay even more unique. If you’re looking for something a little different, check out these truly unique hotels for your next holiday.

The Star, Australia – The Seventies Glam Studio

In a first of Australia, The Star have imagined three exotic spaces to stay and play. The Seventies Glam Studio brings to life the golden age of disco a la Studio 54 in a wonderland of neon lights, sumptuous spaces and dazzling decadence. Lounge beneath the glitter ball whilst sipping on champagne, tear up your own personal dance flight with a neon ‘lips & cherry’ light as your backdrop or release your inner disco diva with a karaoke session.

Hobbit Motel, New Zealand

Grass roof, check. Round doors and windows, check. Bucolic scenery, check. Welcome to the Hobbit Motel, built on a working farm that’s already known for its selection of unusual accommodations, including a Plane Motel and a Boat Motel. There are two units to stay in at the hobbit-themed inn, which is located near Waitomo Glowworm Caves.

Seven Hotel, France – Marie Antoinette Suite 

The Marie Antoinette Suite, much like a glamorous boudoir, will charm each and everyone of your senses during your stay in this luminous little Versailles. The clawfoot tub and shower, canopy bed and ethereal painted ceilings help divulge one of the most beautiful love stories of the French Court whilst in your own, personal Parisian getaway.

Sand Castle Hotel, Netherlands

Is one of your favourite holiday sensations the sand between your toes? Then perhaps Zandhotel in the Netherlands is for you. Built around the annual sand sculpture festival, the room is the very first sand hotel in the world. Decorated with over 30 large sand sculptures, the hotel also has reinforced walls and ceilings packed with, yep you guessed it, sand.

Fairy Tale Suite, USA

The Disneyland Hotel is the oldest of the Disney Hotels, opened in October 18, 1955 (and remodelled soon after). The most recent renovation added a selection of themed Signature Suites including the Fairy Tale Suite (which is lavish enough to satisfy any Disney princess or prince). Boasting a four poster canopy bed, a special greeting from Tinkerbell when you enter, a mosaic of Sleeping Beauty Castle over the jacuzzi tub and the most fantastic view of the Disneyland fireworks.

Dog Bark Park Inn, Idaho

If you’re a dog-lover, this hotel is for you. The Dog Bark Park Inn, nestled inside of the belly of the biggest beagle in the world, will charm anyone with a penchant for a pet pooch. Highlights include dog-shaped treats, hydrant-shaped porta-pottie’s and k9 statues within it’s walls.
