Fleabag

Kathryn Chung, Staff Writer

Like every millennial woman, I am obsessed with everything Phoebe Waller-Bridge creates; my favourite being her cult-hit TV show, Fleabag. Sharp one-liners, a guinea pig-themed cafe and a sexy priest, what more could you want out of a TV show? The series deals with themes of sex, sisterhood and grief with whip-smart humour and brazen honesty that’s entertaining, addictive and boldly original.

The Blacklist

Lillian McHugh, Integration Director

At the moment I am obsessed with The Blacklist on Netflix. A colleague recommended it and at first, I thought it was going to be too scary but I persevered and I am so happy I did. It’s just so good, you can’t watch just one episode; I stay up way too late wondering what’s going to happen to Reddington and the Crew.

What We Do in the Shadows

Phoebe Watt, Managing Editor

A new (to me) favourite I can’t stop recommending — the horror/comedy/mockumentary series, What We Do in the Shadows. A spin-off of the low-budget Taika Waititi and Jemaine Clement film that delighted audiences worldwide after premiering at Sundance in 2014, the series uplifts the vampires-flatting-together-in-present-day-Wellington premise and drops it down in Staten Island with an all-new cast and a steady stream of high-profile cameos including Beanie Feldstein, Wesley Snipes and Tilda Swinton. Having just earned Clement an Emmy nod (Waititi has taken a backseat on this one), the first two seasons are available to watch on Neon, with a third currently in the works.

Offspring

Ashley Wallace, Staff Writer

I decided to give Offspring a go a couple of years ago after it appeared on Netflix and I’d heard it was highly addictive from friends. It’s still my favourite series of all time – endearingly funny, incredibly moving and completely binge-worthy. Sure, it has some ridiculous moments, and perhaps it went on for a season too long, but it’s an easy watch that is perfect to devour while curled up on the couch on a rainy weekend or when you’re suffering from a particularly severe hangover.
