Moving Drama ‘The Bookshop’ Celebrates The Power Of Literature
Looking to be inspired? 'The Bookshop', with Bill Nighy and Emily Mortimer, is sure to move as it celebrates the importance of the arts and the magic of reading.

“A good book is the precious life-blood of a master-spirit, embalmed and treasured up on purpose to a life beyond life, and as such it must surely be a necessary commodity”, Penelope Fitzgerald wrote in her critically acclaimed novel The Bookshop.

Now adapted into a film directed by Isabel Coixet and starring Emily Mortimer, Bill Nighy and Patricia Clarkson, this moving story of passion, persistence and power is set to inspire once again.

Set in 1959, The Bookshop follows the tale of free-spirited widow Florence Green (Mortimer), who risks everything to open a bookshop in the sleepy coastal town of Hardborough, England. Florence quickly finds herself facing both apathy and ire from the local residents, who have never been exposed to the eye-opening literature of Vladimir Nabokov, Ray Bradbury and other key authors. With the support of Mr. Brundish (Nighy), she fights to keep her beloved bookstore open and bring the power of literature to Hardborough.

This is a moving, insightful and inspiring film that illuminates the importance of literature and encourages viewers to read, dream and stay true to themselves.

Don’t miss this remarkable film, in cinemas on May 24, 2018.
