Tourism Tasmania CEO, John Fitzgerald, says “Tasmania is excited to welcome back visitors and provide them with a much needed holiday. Tasmania has bucket loads of character that no other destination in Australia offers”.
“Tasmanians are creative bunch so it’s fantastic to see new and unique experiences being developed during 2020 for visitors to now come and enjoy. Our passionate tourism industry are ready to greet visitors safely, but with our customary warm Tassie welcome” says Fitzgerald.
Some highlights include:
The Overland Track
Spring and summer is the best time for the iconic Overland Track, with warmer days and less chance of rain it’s an ideal time to do the hike through the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area.
The full 65 km journey from Waldheim to Lake St Clair takes about six days with a host of spectacular views on the way.
Freycinet National Park
Freycinet National Park is home to dramatic pink granite peaks, secluded bays, and white sandy beaches such as wineglass bay.
There are many more short walks across the park that are suitable for all abilities and that lead to secluded bays, clean beaches and bird-filled lagoons.
The beautiful beaches and pristine waters that surround the park can be enjoyed with swimming, kayaking or just lazing on the perfect white sand, while diving and snorkeling are rewarded with underwater views of abundant marine life.
Barndougle Dunes Golf Links
One of the best courses in the world, Barndougle Dunes Golf Links is located near the seaside village of Bridport in Tasmania’s North-East.
The 18 hole championship layout was designed by course architects Tom Doak and Mike Clayton, and is set among sand dunes overlooking Bass Strait.
Visitors to Tasmania are encouraged to register upon arrival and practice COVID-safe behaviours at all times, including being aware of and following the current restrictions. Pre-planning and booking ahead for travel and hospitality experiences is highly recommended.
