Take a plunge: six of the best infinity pools around the world

If you’re partial to a blue backdrop and cinematic views of sky and sea then we’ve found six of the best infinity pools from around the world.

InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort

The new InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort is located on the pristine Phu Quoc Island in Vietnam. The island is a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve and the pool here is so beautiful that the line drawn between manmade and natural is blurred. Float around in one of four swimming pools attached to the resort or prop yourself up on one of the wet loungers for a front-row seat overlooking the sea.

Kata Rocks

The infinity pool at Kata Rocks in Phuket is super swanky. Here, you can take a refreshing dip with unobstructed ocean views at the southern end of Kata Beach. The pool blends in seamlessly with the design-driven hotel and creates the illusion of being adrift on the Andaman Sea. This seriously upscale five-star luxury resort is a top spot to flop and drop.

qualia

There are a whole raft of reasons to leave the luxurious confines of qualia and explore Hamilton Island. There’s the powder-soft sands at Whitehaven Beach, the exquisite seafood at Long Pavilion, and sunset cocktails on One Tree Hill. Having said that, appreciating the island’s natural beauty while ensconced in the infinity-edged pool at qualia is perfectly acceptable, too.

Garonga Safari Camp

This luxury tented safari camp is in the heart of the Makalali Conservancy, some 90 minutes from Kruger National Park. While the infinity pool here is small, it’s perfectly formed and designed to overlook a dry river bed that runs through the surrounding bushland like a scar. The area surrounding the dried-up creek is where the wild things are: play spot the elephants, giraffes and zebras who like to congregate here at dawn and dusk.

Amilla Fushi’s Ocean Reef House

Amilla Fushi translates to ‘island home’. And the array of houses and residences sitting on the sand here all offer private infinity-edged pools where you can kick it up a notch and work on that all-over tan. It’s impossible to find an average view on this island, which is a UNESCO-protected biosphere.  Keep an eye out for dolphins while admiring the ocean.

Anantara Bali Uluwatu Resort & Spa
The clifftop pool here is perched like an eyrie on the edge of a limestone cliff offering cinematic views over the Indian Ocean and Uluwatu’s world-class waves. Escape the pressure-cooker heat of the tropics and stay cool in the tiered swimming pool until sunset when the sky is bruised pink and purple and it’s cocktail time.
