Social media Nutella-nuts send Tella Ball Shake viral.

Hybrid deliciousness has been making its mark for the last few years. Cronuts – donuts enmeshed with buttery croissant, brimming with chocolate or jam (or whatever you fancy!) – have been at the forefront of the tasty trend.

Now, an inner west Sydney café has taken it to the next level with the Tella ball shake – a Nutella-filled donut ball, balanced on top of Nutella-filled milkshake. No wonder there was recent concern about a Nutella shortage!

Taking a similar concept to the famous Tim Tam explosion, into hybrid sweetness territory, sees a straw being threaded through the donut, so you can get a hit of the delicious syrup in one slurp.

The genius of the shake is that it is “off menu” – meaning you have to be in the social media know to be able to order it.

The creation was only invented a week ago by Aki Daikos and business partner Simon Kappatos, for their Erskineville café Foodcraft Espresso and Bakery. Despite this, it has become world famous as punters have been photos of their shakes and donuts on social media.

Over the weekend the café sold 800 of the doughnuts that come in flavours including salted caramel, Nutella, vanilla bean, ricotta and strawberry jam. Around 400 of the shakes which come in all the same flavours, were also sold.

Mr Daikos has said they’ll be opening a Nutella Balls Gelato Bar within the next two months.

So are you tempted by this Nutella-overload?
