The Summer Skincare Tips You Need Now

It’s no secret that our skin changes with the seasons, and summer can be particularly harsh. Thankfully, there are some basic tips you can employ to keep your skin glowing and fresh.

Change it up: your skin won’t thrive if you maintain the same skincare routine year-round. Most people have an oilier complexion during the hotter months, meaning a lightweight moisturiser is more effective. Swapping to a lighter sunscreen will also help your skin stay glowing.

Use a hydrating serum: if you work in an air-conditioned building, it’s very easy for your skin to become dehydrated. Global Ultraceuticals education Ambassador Tracey Beeby recommends a hydrating serum for best results. “Replacing essential moisture loss with a hydrating serum is ideal as a booster for your moisturiser,” she says.

Add vitamin C: slow down the effects of fine lines and wrinkles by adding vitamin C to your morning skincare regime. This increases collagen production, strengthening and smoothing the skin. Apply in serum form and don’t forget to wear sunscreen.

Invest in a liquid exfoliant: fight dull, dry skin with a liquid exfoliant that clears the pores, evens skin tone and brightens the complexion.

Don’t over-scrub: scrubs can be great for the skin when used correctly, but damaging when applied too often. “Scrubs should not be used as a daily cleanser,” Beeby warns. “They should only be prescribed once or twice a week depending on the skin condition and what other exfoliating ingredients are used.” Opt for a scrub with spherical beads to avoid scratching the skin’s outer layer.
