He’s funny
Prince Edward is known for the enthusiasm and humour he brings to royal duties. He was praised for his hilarious cake-cutting while celebrating the 25th Anniversary of a community centre:

He’s committed to royal duties
When the coronavius outbreak caused the cancellation many a royal engagement, Prince Edward managed to keep up his duties. With his work having a particular focus on the development of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, he’s participated in video conferences in relation to the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award Foundation during lockdown. He is considered the third hardest-working royal behind older siblings Prince Charles and Princess Anne.
He’s romantic
The Earl of Wessex is the only one of the Queen’s children not to have divorced. He married Sophie Rhys-Jones in 1999, and the pair celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in June 2019. Prince Edward has had a number of sweet PDA moments with his wife throughout the years, frequently putting his arm around her, kissing her on the cheek and hugging her.
He’s a thrifty dresser
Prince Edward has worn the same tie, and almost the same outfit, to Royal Ascot for the past seven years. The yellow tie featuring jockey jackets and saddles is one of a number of printed ties that the royal loves to wear.

He was once a royal rebel
The Prince encountered some controversy when he dropped out of the Royal Marines after having completed just one third of the 12-month training, despite the marines paying £12,000 towards his tuition at Cambridge University on condition of future service.
He then embarked on an unconventional career for a royal, working in the entertainment industry for a number of years. He worked as a production assistant at Andrew Lloyd Webber’s musical theatre company, where he met actress Ruthie Henshall. Edward and Henshall dated on and off for five years. He later formed his own television production company.
He’s rumoured to be the Queen’s favourite child
The Earl and Countess of Wessex are reportedly considered by the Queen and Prince Philip to be the most reliable and trustworthy members of the Royal Family.
