The three returning stars – Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis – confirmed the news with posts to social media.
Each of the actors shared a short teaser video debuting the title of the new chapter – And Just Like That.
Sadly, Kim Cattrall will not be returning to revive the role of Samantha, with the actress being open in the past about not wanting to star in another reboot. It’s unclear how the show will address Samantha’s absence.
The series will consist of 10 half-hour episodes and will catch up with Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda in their 50s.
The show will air on HBO’s streaming service, HBO Max. Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, revealed how excited she is to continue the Sex and the City story.
“I grew up with these characters, and I can’t wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humour and the beloved city that has always defined them,” she said.
Production is set to begin in New York in late northern hemisphere spring.
