Seventies’ Icon David Cassidy Dies

Seventies’ Icon David Cassidy Dies
The former teen icon has passed away aged 67.

Former teen sensation David Cassidy has passed away after experiencing organ failure. Cassidy was best known for his role in 1970s American sitcom The Partridge Family, where he played Keith Patridge, the eldest of five siblings in a band.

Cassidy went on to build a successful career as a solo musician which rocketed him to fame, creating what became referred to as ‘Cassidymania’. When a fan died after being crushed in crowds at one of his concerts, Cassidy quit touring and focused on producing albums for many years.

In February 2017, Cassidy admitted he was suffering from early dementia, which his mother also suffered from prior to her own death.

Cassidy’s publicist Jo-Ann Geffen confirmed his death with a statement from his family. “It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, our uncle, and our dear brother, David Cassidy. David died surrounded by those he loved, with joy in his heart and free from the pain that had gripped him for so long. Thank you for the abundance and support you have shown him these many years.”
