Sarah Jessica Parker is ready to party Kiwi-style after the first bottle of her newly-created New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc landed on her doorstep.

Actor Sarah Jessica Parker has toasted her first foray into winemaking, showing off her New Zealand wine creation on the steps of her New York home.

Following in the footsteps of chat show host Graham Norton, the Sex And The City star is the latest celebrity to put their name to a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc.

Despite not making it to New Zealand, Parker is said to have been hands-on with the winemaking process.

Invivo co-founders Rob Cameron and Tim Lightbourne travelled to New York to blend the wine with Parker’s help.

Using samples of the 2019 vintage harvested from estates in the Wairau and Awatere Valleys, they spent three hours trying out different proportions before working out the final blend.

“While I’m new to winemaking, the Invivo fellows generously taught, showed and shared as much of the art and science of their business and hopefully I have absorbed some of their Kiwi confidence,” Parker said.

Her close involvement with the wine’s creation can also be seen in the label and artwork. A personal touch, the unmissable X emblazoned across the label represents her signature email and Instagram sign-off.

Parker herself hand-painted the X on the original label. The paint she chose matched the exact shade of one of her favourite satin shoe colourways, “Hamilton”, from her SJP Collection Label.

While it’s ready to enjoy right now, Invivo winemaker Cameron says it will “continue to develop for up to seven years”.

“Sarah Jessica loves the fruit purity of Sauvignon Blanc but wanted to make a wine that has some weight behind it. The result is a beautifully well-balanced drop – think flavours of grapefruit, honey-suckle flower, passionfruit and citrus zest balanced with an acidic spine – it’s not a typical Marlborough Sauvignon.”

The wine is already available in New Zealand, and will be on shelves in Australia, US, UK, Ireland and Japan from October.
